Emergencies

If you are in pain during surgery hours, please contact the surgery and every effort will be made to see you as soon as possible.

If you require emergency treatment outside surgery hours please telephone the surgery. A recorded message will advise you how to obtain treatment. Usually emergency treatment is provided by Dr Grime; on occasions we use the services of the Healthcall Emergency Dental Service.

If you have any queries regarding any of the services we provide please do not hesitate to ask.

Private treatment

A full range of private treatments are available. Some items of treatment e.g. white fillings in back teeth, are not available on the NHS. In other cases e.g. dentures, crowns and bridges, private treatment can offer superior techniques and materials.

Private dental schemes e.g. Denplan and CIGNA, offer private treatment for a fixed monthly payment. This enables a greater emphasis to be placed on the prevention of dental disease and spreads the cost of treatment.

NHS treatment and charges

NHS patients pay most of the costs towards their treatment up to a maximum charge. These charges are fixed by the Government. Normally charges are due when treatment starts so please be prepared to pay when asked to do so. Payments may be divided between visits if more convenient.

If you are in one of the following categories you may be exempt from dental charges:-

  • Under 18 years or under 19 years and in full time education.
  • An expectant mother or the mother of a child under one year of age.
  • You are in receipt of Income Support, Family Credit, JSA or DWA.
  • If you have a DSS certificate for help with NHS charges.
